Privacy Policy

What this is

World Cup Predictor is a free, private prediction game played by a small group of friends (under 500 people). It is run as a personal hobby project. There is no money, no prizes, no advertising, and nothing is sold.

What we collect

When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, Google account ID, and profile picture from Google. We use this only to create your account and show who is participating.

We also store the predictions you submit, comments you post, and basic activity needed to compute the leaderboard (timestamps, your user ID).

How we use it

Your data is used to run the game: to identify you, save your predictions, calculate scores, display the leaderboard, and let participants comment.

We do not profile you. We do not sell or rent your data to anyone.

Ad measurement (Meta Pixel & Conversions API)

To measure whether our Instagram ads bring in real signups, we use the Meta Pixel (in your browser) and Meta's Conversions API (from our server). When you visit the site or create an account, we share a small set of signals with Meta: your IP address, browser user agent, the page URL, and — only after you sign in — a one-way SHA-256 hash of your email so Meta can match you to an ad click. We never share your name, your predictions, your comments, or your raw email.

If you prefer to opt out, you can block the Meta Pixel with a browser extension (uBlock Origin, Ghostery, or your browser's built-in tracker blocker) or by disabling third-party cookies for facebook.com.

Who can see it

Your display name, profile picture, predictions (after a match has started), and comments are visible to other participants in the game. Your email address is not shown to other players.

Data is stored on Supabase (our database and authentication provider). Google handles the sign-in flow. Meta receives only the limited ad-measurement signals described above. No other third parties receive your data.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account exists. If you ask us to delete it, we remove your account, predictions, and comments within a few days.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, or delete your data at any time by emailing us. You can also revoke our access to your Google account directly in your Google account settings.

Children

This site is intended for adults (friends of the project owner). It is not designed for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of the page.
